Colin Higgins, screenwriter, director and producer, established the Colin Higgins Foundation in 1986. Mr. Higgins, who is remembered for his remarkable human comedies, including Harold And Maude, Silver Streak, Foul Play and Nine To Five, created the Foundation in order to further his humanitarian goals.

Grantmaking: The Foundation is particularly interested in assisting organizations that build the power and leadership of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and two-spirit youth.

The Foundation has also established two scholarship programs in memory of Colin Higgins at:

The Stanford University Department of English
The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television

These scholarships support graduate students and filmmakers whose work enlightens and enriches the human spirit. The universities, and not the Colin Higgins Foundation, administer these scholarship programs.

Youth Courage Awards: In addition to its grantmaking activities, the Foundation annually bestows the Youth Courage Awards to individual LGBTQ youth who have demonstrated bravery in the face of discrimination, intolerance and bigotry based on gender and/or sexual orientation.
