The Colin Higgins Foundation continues to honor the vision and spirit of this gifted
writer and filmmaker by reflecting his values and addressing the issues that
concerned him. The Foundation supports LGBT youth through Youth Courage Awards to
individual youth (ages 13-24). In the past, the Foundation has also made grants to
organizations that build the power and leadership of lesbian, gay, bisexual,
two-spirit and transgender youth (age 13-24) through:

grassroots organizing and/or comprehensive leadership development;

working with historically underprivileged constituencies: youth of color, transgender, immigrant, low-income or rural youth and/or youth in reservation communities;
- striving to bring about institutional change in the legal, political, economic, or cultural structures that impact LGBT youth, and;
- working to link LGBT youth to other organizations and social justice movements.
