> Grantmaking
The Colin Higgins Foundation is no
longer conducting an open Letters of Inquiry process. The Foundation is
instead implementing a new process in which we will invite specific
organizations to submit an LOI. As such, we will not accept unsolicited
inquiries.
Grantmaking Priorities
Through
its grantmaking activities, The Colin Higgins Foundation supports organizations that build the power and leadership of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth (age 13-24) through:
grassroots organizing and/or comprehensive leadership development;
working with historically underprivileged constituencies: youth of color, transgender, immigrant, low-income or rural youth and/or youth in reservation communities;
striving to bring about institutional change in the legal, political, economic, or cultural structures that impact LGBT youth, and;
working to link LGBT youth to other organizations and social justice movements.
Until further notice, the Colin Higgins Foundation will not accept Letters of Inquiry for independent film and video projects including research, production, and distribution. We have considered outreach and education film and video projects in the past, but will not consider them for this cycle.
Additional Grantmaking
In addition to responding to requests in the above areas, the Foundation has established two scholarship programs in memory of Colin Higgins at:
The Stanford University Department of English The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television
These scholarships support graduate students and filmmakers whose work enlightens and enriches the human spirit. The universities, and not the Colin Higgins Foundation, administer these scholarship programs.
